Amazon and the NHL expand partnership to support local players
Amazon Canada is expanding its partnership with the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) to bring more than $1 million to all 32 NHL cities during the 2026/2027 NHL season.
The partnership aims to support local organizations across North America which make Hockey more accessible and inclusive. Throughout the season, NHL players will visit Amazon facilities in each city, connecting with employees and giving donations to organizations that are impacting their communities through sports.
On April 22, 2026, the Ottawa Power Wheelchair Hockey League (OPWHL), the Canadian Blind Hockey Association, and Next Shift Canada each received a $25,000 donation to help grow the game locally.
OPWHL is a floor hockey league for athletes who use a powered wheelchair. Canadian Blind Hockey Association is a charity that empowers children and youth who are blind or have partial sight – up to 10 per cent or “legally blind” – with training and coaching. Next Shift Canada provides quality equipment and resources to those who need it most.
Youth participants from the three organizations got the opportunity to meet Washington Capitals’ Tom Wilson and New York Islanders’ standout rookie Matthew Schaefer. The pair made for an unforgettable experience for the youth involved, skating with the organization participants and giving them feedback.
Alongside them were Marty Walsh, Executive Director of the NHLPA, and Brian Huseman, Vice President of Public Policy and Community Engagement at Amazon.
