“This is a win for consumers, artists, creators, and authors. apple has approved our U.S. app update after nearly ten years of effort. Now we can clearly show pricing information and provide links to purchase options. This change promotes transparency and choice for users in the U.S., allowing us to offer lower prices and better access to Spotify’s services.”
Mora emphasized that while there’s more work ahead, this moment marks an vital step forward for developers who want fair competition.

On Wednesday,a District Court ruled that Apple did not follow the 2021 decision from the significant antitrust case between Apple and Epic Games. As a result of this ruling,Apple updated its app review guidelines.Apps on iOS and macOS can now include buttons or links directing users to make payments outside of their platforms.
Previously, if an app developer initiated an external payment thru their app, Apple would take 27% of that transaction fee. With these new rules in place, however, thay will no longer collect any fees from external payments.
