Understanding How to Play Strands
Your main objective in each Strands puzzle is to uncover the “theme words” hidden within a grid of letters. You can create words by dragging or tapping on letters; double-tap the last letter when you're done. When you correctly identify a theme word, it will turn blue and become unselectable.
If you discover non-theme words that are four letters or longer, they still contribute positively! For every three such words found, you'll receive a hint revealing some letters of one theme word that you'll need to unscramble.
Every letter in the grid contributes directly to forming theme words without any overlaps. Each letter is used exactly once throughout the puzzle.
A unique feature of each puzzle is its “spangram,” which consists of special theme word(s) stretching across two opposite sides of the board.When identified, this spangram will be highlighted in yellow.
