A New Approach to Window Management
Managing app windows on an iPad has always posed challenges due to limited resizing options. Even though Apple introduced Stage Manager as a temporary fix previously, it didn’t fully address these limitations.
With iPadOS 26 comes an innovative windowed app system that works alongside stage Manager. This new feature allows users to manage multiple apps more effectively while remembering their size preferences for future sessions.
The Expose feature lets you expand all open apps across your screen quickly so you can select which one you'd like to focus on next. Additionally, Apple has incorporated familiar three-button window controls from macOS into this update for added convenience.
I particularly enjoy how easy it is indeed now to tile windows along either side of the screen with just a flick of your finger! Plus, if you're juggling several applications at once, there are up to eight preset sizes available for speedy adjustments when arranging your workspace.
A Streamlined Menu Bar Experience
An essential addition from macOS is the menu bar at the top of your screen in iPadOS 26—a game changer in many ways! It eliminates interruptions during tasks as you can access settings directly without diving into each app’s menus individually.
This menu bar also provides developers with greater versatility by allowing them to add unique settings tailored specifically for their applications while keeping standard options like File or Edit readily available across all apps.
While touch interactions may not see drastic changes here; using keyboard shortcuts or trackpad gestures makes navigating much smoother—especially when working within demanding software such as DaVinci Resolve!
An Upgraded Phone App Experience
I recently pointed out how Apple's phone submission lagged behind modern standards regarding user-friendly features and safety measures—but that's no longer true! Not only did they address these shortcomings but also brought those enhancements over onto both Mac computers and tablets alike!
