Unveiling the Galaxy S25 Edge: Next-Gen Screen Protection Awaits!

Samsung's Upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge: What to Expect
samsung is set to launch its new Galaxy S25 series, with the Galaxy S25 Edge making headlines. This smartphone is rumored to be just 5.8 mm thick, possibly making it the thinnest smartphone available today. It may also come equipped with a dual camera system featuring a remarkable 200MP main telephoto lens.
Anticipated Features and Durability Challenges
While Samsung will likely share more details during its keynote next Monday, there are concerns about durability that often accompany thin or foldable designs. To address this issue, Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S25 Edge will be the first device to use Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.
Introducing Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, which has protected many top smartphones over the past year and was recently used in flip phones like the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025. Kwangjin Bae, Samsung’s executive Vice President and Head of Mechanical R&D for Mobile, stated:
“The Galaxy S25 edge will redefine craftsmanship and performance as our slimmest device in the Galaxy S series. To achieve this innovative design, we needed a display material that combines extreme thinness with reliable strength.”
Enhanced Durability for Modern Smartphones
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 aims to improve durability and crack resistance for ultra-thin smartphones such as Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air.This new glass features crystals embedded within its structure while Corning's ion exchange process boosts both strength and protection.
Andrew Beck, vice President at Corning Gorilla Glass, commented on this advancement:
“With Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we have created an impressive blend of thinness and strength that offers consumers outstanding durability wrapped in a sleek design.”
The Future of Smartphone Protection
The Galaxy S25 Edge is leading the way by being the first phone to utilize this innovative glass technology. While specific details about how much stronger it makes devices are still under wraps from both Samsung and Corning, there is growing interest as more manufacturers aim for thinner designs—especially with models like the anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 7.
What Lies Ahead?
As we await further information on what else Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 can provide alongside features of the Galaxy S25 Edge itself, all eyes will be on Samsung’s major proclamation scheduled for May 12th at 8 PM Eastern Time.
