Rogers Cuts 25GB Bonus and Hikes Plan Prices by $5

Rogers Adjusts Plans: Price Hikes and Data Reductions
Recently, Rogers made some notable changes to its mobile plans. The company has eliminated the 25GB data bonus that was previously included in several offerings. Alongside this removal, they have also increased the monthly prices of these plans by $5.
New Pricing Structure
The updated pricing for Rogers' mobile plans is as follows (note that these prices reflect a $10 discount for autopay):
- $70 for 100GB of 5G data (with a speed cap of 250Mbps) across Canada, including 2,000 international texts (previously priced at $65 for 125GB).
- $80 for 175GB of 5G data (with a speed cap of 1Gbps) usable in Canada and the U.S., along with 1,000 international minutes (previously $75 for 200GB).
- $100 for 250GB of 5G data (also capped at speeds up to 1Gbps) available in Canada, the U.S.,and mexico with an allowance of 1,000 international minutes (previously offered at $95 for a total of 275GB).
What Remains Unchanged?
Apart from the adjustments in pricing and data limits, many features remain consistent with previous offerings. Customers can still enjoy benefits such as additional cashback when using Rogers’ Red credit card. Additionally, subscribers on the $80 and $100 plans will receive three months free access to Sportsnet+, while those on the highest tier can benefit from discounts on roaming charges.
Special Offers Based on Eligibility
Rogers also provides slightly different options depending on customer eligibility. Those who bundle services or meet specific criteria—like being over age sixty-five or being students or frist responders—may find tailored offers available to them.
The Bigger Picture: Industry Trends
This price increase coupled with reduced data allowances is disappointing news for consumers. Unluckily, Rogers isn’t alone; similar trends have been observed among other providers like Fido—owned by Rogers—and Public Mobile.
The timing is especially concerning as customers are facing an additional charge: a new fee of $75 if they continue using Rogers' outdated third-generation network before it shuts down wholly at the end of July.
A Better Deal elsewhere?
If you don’t require massive amounts of data each month, it’s worth considering alternatives to Rogers’ offerings. Carriers like Freedom Mobile provide competitive options such as their plan priced at just $39 per month for up to 60 GB or $59 per month offering 100 GB usable across Canada and into both the U.S.and Mexico.
