Rogers Crowned Canada’s Top Wireless Network by Umlaut!

Rogers Named Top wireless Network in Canada Again
Consistent Recognition by Umlaut
Rogers has been recognized as the best wireless network in Canada by Umlaut for the seventh year in a row. This award highlights rogers' excellence in voice, data, and overall reliability.
Methodology Behind the Rankings
Umlaut assessed network performance using a mix of “drivetests” and crowdsourced data. The drivetests involved measuring performance across various cities and towns, covering about 61% of Canada's population. crowdsourced data expanded this reach to 99.1%.
Performance Scores Overview
In its evaluation, Umlaut scored major carriers like Rogers, Bell, and Telus on a scale of 1,000 points based on their voice and data services along wiht crowdsourced feedback. Rogers achieved an impressive score of 912 points, surpassing Bell's score of 878 and Telus' score of 837.
Detailed Results from Drivetests
According to Umlaut's drivetest results, Rogers consistently outperformed both Bell and Telus regarding voice calls and data services. Though, when considering crowdsourced details as well, the scores became closer. In some instances, either Bell or Telus even outperformed rogers.
Reliability Ratings Breakdown
For reliability assessments based on a scale of 600 points:
- Rogers received 547
- Bell scored 526
- Telus earned 510

About Umlaut's evaluation Process
Umlaut operates under accenture’s umbrella and evaluates over 200 networks across more than 120 countries using its unique scoring system.
Mixed Results from Other Testing Organizations
It is noteworthy that while Umlaut consistently ranks Rogers at the top over several years, other testing organizations have different findings. As a notable example:
- Ookla frequently enough claims that Bell has superior fiber and 5G networks.
- Occasionally Telus also receives recognition for speed.
Opensignal has awarded accolades to all three providers at different times too; recently recognizing Rogers for having fast broadband download speeds while naming Bell’s network as fastest for its fifth generation service last year.
In their latest reports from August this year Opensignal stated that all three companies provide similar mobile experiences overall.
Historical Context
Umlaut previously named Rogers’ wireless network as best in:
- 2020
- 2021
- And again in 2023
Interestingly enough though it was revealed that Rogers commissioned the report conducted by Umlaut back in 2021; it remains unclear if they had any involvement with this year's assessment.
This ongoing recognition raises questions about how these rankings can differ among various testing agencies but solidifies Roger's position within Canadian telecommunications according to UMLAUT’s standards.
