On July 2, Rogers Communications announced that it has finalized its acquisition of a 37.5% stake in Maple leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) from Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE). This move positions Rogers as the majority owner of MLSE, increasing its ownership to a commanding 75%.

Notable Investment in Sports
Over the last ten years, Rogers has poured more than $15 billion into Canadian sports.By acquiring majority control over MLSE, they significantly enhance their already extensive sports portfolio. This includes ownership stakes in the Toronto Blue Jays, Sportsnet network, and the iconic rogers Centre.
The MLSE is home to several major teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors. With this acquisition, Rogers not only strengthens its position within professional hockey but also expands its influence across various sporting events.
A Long-Term Commitment with NHL Media Rights
In addition to securing a stake in MLSE, Rogers recently extended its media rights agreement with the NHL for another twelve years. This deal was finalized on July 1 after receiving approval from all relevant parties involved.
