Public Mobile is reducing the number of points customers earn

Effective October 15, 2025, Public Mobile is making huge changes to its rewards program, and it seems like these changes aren’t positive.

Starting in mid-October, the points-back customers earn will decrease from five per cent to two per cent, and the anniversary bonus will shrink from 10 points to five points.

Public says that existing points balances won’t change, and users can still redeem points the same way.

Public Mobile says the change helps it to continue to offer great price and great rewards “just in a more sustainable way.”

Public Mobile launched this points program all the way back in 2022, before sunsetting its legacy points program last year, which angered many of the carrier’s customers.

Here’s a breakdown of how you can earn Public Points:

  1. Welcome Present: You can earn 5 Public Points as soon as you join the rewards program.
  2. Points Back: You can earn back five per cent (dropping to two per cent) of whatever you spend on your bill back in Public Points.
  3. Anniversary Points: For every 12 months you spend with Public Mobile, you’ll receive 10 points (dropping to five points).
  4. Give Back: Earn up to 20 points every 30 days by engaging in the Public Mobile Community.
  5. Refer-a-Friend: You can earn one Public Point for every 30 days if the person you refer stays with Public Mobile.

You can spend these points to lower your bill, claim add-ons and enter a chance to win prizes; although, now you’ll be claiming fewer points than before, unfortunately.
