Netflix confirms Canada not part of new U.S. price increase
If you just saw the news of a Netflix price increase in the U.S. and wondered if Canada was included, you can rest easy for now.
Netflix Canada has confirmed to MobileSyrup that today’s price change doesn’t affect Canada. For context, the U.S. just saw the following hikes:
- Standard with Ads — US$8.99/month (up from $7.99/month)
- Standard (ad-free, 1080p) — US$19.99/month (up from $17.99/month)
- Premium (ad-free, 4K) — US$26.99/month (up from $24.99/month)
Meanwhile, these are the current prices for Canada:
- Standard with Ads — C$7.99/month
- Standard (ad-free, 1080p) — C$18.99/month
- Premium (ad-free, 4K) — C$23.99/month
These have been in effect since January 2025, when Netflix last increased prices in Canada alongside other markets. Of course, Netflix’s confirmation that Canada isn’t included in today’s U.S. price increase doesn’t preclude either an impending or distant hike, but for now, at least, we’re in the clear.
And naturally, Netflix isn’t the only streamer raising prices. In fact, a new report found that the leading ten streamers in Canada jacked prices by an average of seven per cent in 2025. The most recent offender in Canada was Disney+ in November.
