In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, one of the first major bosses you will encounter is the massive Burgeon. These towering creatures can be quite challenging, especially early in the game when your character levels are low.
As you progress through your initial hours,you'll likely stumble upon a side quest that involves helping a small Burgeon grow into its full size. Nonetheless of your preferences, facing a Burgeon is unavoidable. Here’s how to defeat a Burgeon adn where to find them for that side quest.
Locating a Burgeon
your journey begins when you discover The small Burgeon's location while exploring the world. to help it grow, you'll need to collect skin from larger versions of these creatures—the gigantic Burgeons.
Step 1: Your first encounter with a Burgeon will probably occur in an area called Flying Waters. When you reach an unclear fork in the path, take the right route through tall kelp rather of heading left toward buildings and lampposts.
Step 2: Continue down this path until you find your first Burgeon. You might have already fought this creature before even starting The Small burgeon quest.
step 3: Besides Flying Waters, there are many other locations where you can find more Burgeons as you explore. You can choose to engage them or avoid combat altogether; however, if you're looking for battle or need their skin for crafting purposes, prepare yourself before initiating combat with any higher-level foes.
Tactics for Battling a burgeon
The fight against a Burgeon is unique because it will eliminate one member from your party early on.This means you'll have only two fighters available during most of the battle—here's how to manage that situation effectively.
Step 1: At the begining of combat, use any essential skills that may not be available later on during the fight.The reason behind this strategy is simple: once its their turn, they will swallow one party member and render them unusable for some time.
This initial phase is ideal for applying buffs or debuffs since they could still contribute indirectly after being swallowed.As an example, using Gustave's Powerful skill at this stage grants allies increased strength for three turns—helpful if he gets swallowed afterward!
Step 2:If one member gets swallowed by the time you're down to two fighters left standing, focus on combining their abilities effectively. In my experience with my first encounter against a Burgeon where Lune was consumed early on leaving maelle and Gustave behind—this teamwork became crucial!
You can utilize Maelle’s Spark, which inflicts Burn status; then follow up with her Sprint Stride.This allows her entry into The Virtuose Stance.Simultaneously occurring Gustave benefits from his move called Catching Fire,which deals damage while healing him if his target has Burn status applied! Alternatively he could use his Aim Shot to mark targets so Maelle’s attack does extra damage!
