Koodo, Fido, Virgin offering $35/80GB CAN/US/MEX deal for limited time

Fido, Koodo, and Virgin Plus are offering $35/80GB CAN/US/MEX plans as another weekend of wireless deals heats up.
The Big Three flanker brands have all listed the plan on their respective websites, a discount from the $40 of the plan offered earlier this week. Koodo and Fido list the deal as ending on March 31, though Virgin Plus didn’t have an end date at the time of writing.
Along with the $35/80GB deal, the three providers are still offering a $55/100GB Canada-wide plan, which is also slated to end on March 31.
The $35/80GB plan is mostly the same at the three providers, with a few small differences, which we’ll get into below. First, here’s what you get regardless of provider:
- 80GB of 5G data (speeds vary).
- Canada/U.S./Mexico roaming with data, talk, and texts.
- Unlimited international SMS.
- Price includes an autopay discount of $10/mo.
-
Koodo’s $35/80GB plan.
-
Fido’s $35/80GB plan.
-
Virgin’s $35/80GB plan.
The biggest difference between the three providers is data speed. Koodo still caps 5G plans at 250Mbps, or up to 500Mbps if you get the company’s free speed boost perk. However, Fido and Virgin Plus, which started offering 5G service more recently, cap data speeds at up to 1Gbps.
Another difference is the aforementioned Koodo perks. Koodo offers a free perk with its plans, with options like a speed boost, rollover data, premium voicemail, and more.
Fido and Virgin, on the other hand, offer some bonuses bundled directly into the plan. Fido includes unlimited international calls to 27 countries and enhanced voicemail. However, Fido also charges extra for hotspot access, so you might want to skip Fido if you use hotspots frequently.
Virgin also offers unlimited international calling to 27 countries and hotspot access, but only offers basic voicemail with its plan.
Notably, these deals come after Freedom Mobile brought back its $40/250GB plan. While Freedom’s plan is a really great deal, if you don’t need 250GB (and who really does?), then one of these $35/80GB plans might be a better offer. Not only do you save a bit of money, but you still get a ton of data and other features to boot.
