Bell Unveils Game-Changing AI to Identify Spam and Scam Calls in Canada!

Bell Introduces New Tool ‌to ‍Combat Spam and Scam Calls

Bell has launched a new feature aimed at reducing spam and scam calls for its customers. This tool, called ‘suspicious Call Detection,’ uses artificial‌ intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to identify incoming calls that might potentially be fraudulent or unwanted.

How the Tool Works

The Suspicious call Detection‍ system labels incoming calls as “Likely fraud” or‍ “possible Spam.” These labels are designed to alert users about potentially harmful ⁤calls, helping them make informed decisions before answering. The goal is⁣ to decrease the number of spam and scam calls that people respond to.

Availability for Customers

this new feature is being rolled out at no extra cost across all of Bell’s⁣ mobile‍ brands, including Virgin plus and Lucky Mobile. Customers do not need to take any action to activate this service; it ⁢will be enabled automatically. However, there is currently no option available for users who wish to disable it.

Compatibility with samsung Devices

Customers using Samsung smartphones⁣ shoudl note that they have⁢ access to a similar call labeling feature. However, both‌ features cannot operate simultaneously. If Samsung users prefer Bell's detection tool, they can turn off the Samsung option by going ‍into their Phone app settings: tap on‌ the ⁤three-dot menu, select Settings, then disable ‘Caller ID and Spam protection.’ This action will enable Bell’s call detection automatically.

Tips for Users

To improve accuracy⁣ in identifying vital contacts, Bell suggests adding key numbers⁢ directly⁤ into your phone's contact list. This step can help prevent these important calls from being misidentified as ⁣spam or fraud.

Building on Existing Technology

Bell states that this new detection system enhances its ⁣existing call-blocking technology designed to stop known fraudulent numbers from reaching customers. ‍Since starting this initiative ⁢in 2020 and officially launching it in 2021, Bell‍ claims it has ⁣blocked over ⁢6.6 billion unwanted calls.

Competition in Call ‌Protection Tools

Other telecom companies like Rogers and Telus also offer tools aimed at combating spam calls. In 2023, Rogers introduced ‘Spam call Detect,’ which functions similarly by labeling potential spam or fraud attempts⁣ just like Bell’s tool does. Telus launched its own solution called ‘Call Control’ back in 2020; this feature screens incoming ‍calls with the aim of preventing robocalls from getting through.

By implementing these technologies across⁣ their networks, these companies are working towards creating⁤ a safer‍ calling surroundings for⁢ their customers while ‍addressing growing concerns about unsolicited communications.
