Bell Tops Mobile Speed While Rogers Shines for Video Quality

Ookla's Latest Speedtest Report: Who Reigns Supreme in Canadian Mobile Networks?
Ookla has unveiled its latest Speedtest results for the second half of 2025, revealing that Bell continues to dominate the mobile landscape. This report mirrors findings from previous assessments, with Rogers shining in video performance. Ookla gathered this data through various methods and scoring systems, including Speed Score and Game Score, to evaluate the top mobile carriers.
Bell Takes the lead in 5G Performance
When it comes to 5G networks, bell stands out with a Speed Score of 60.66, which factors in download speeds, upload speeds, and latency. Interestingly enough, Ookla pointed out that there was no clear winner among all Canadian carriers for overall mobile network quality due to minimal statistical differences between them.
The fastest Mobile Network Revealed
Bell not only led in 5G but also excelled across combined technologies with an notable average download speed of 107.51 Mbps. Following closely behind was Telus at a respectable speed of 101.95 Mbps. Additionally, Bell recorded an upload speed of 9.76 Mbps along with a latency rate of just 42 milliseconds.
Consistency is Key: Telus Shines Brightly
A notable highlight from this report is Telus being recognized as the most consistent mobile network overall by Ookla’s metrics. According to their Speedtest Intelligence data, an impressive 85.6% of samples met or surpassed the minimum threshold for download (5 Mbps) and upload (1 Mbps) speeds during testing periods. Bell followed closely at 84.5%, while Rogers trailed slightly behind at 83.3%.
No single carrier emerged as superior regarding consistency within their respective networks; all three—Bell, Rogers, and Telus—showed similar performance levels according to Ookla’s analysis.
Rogers Excels in Availability and Video Quality
This time around, Rogers clinched two important categories within the report: best availability for its 5G services and top-notch video streaming experience! A remarkable statistic shows that about 86% of Rogers customers had access to 5G services most times they checked their connection status.
The company achieved a video streaming score based on three key metrics—acceptable start time for videos loading up quickly without interruptions—and full HD resolution playback—with a score reaching 86 compared to Telus, which scored 85 on this front; Bell wasn’t far behind either at 84 points!
A Closer Look at Gaming Experience Metrics
Bell also took home accolades for providing gamers with an extraordinary experience! It earned a GameScore rating from Ookla measuring gaming performance across four criteria including game latency rates alongside jitter levels while factoring both download/upload speeds into consideration too! Their final scores were quite impressive as well—an overall GameScore rating hit around 86, while specifically focusing on just their 5G gaming capabilities brought them up even higher towards nearly hitting 89!
