Even though Google IO mainly targets developers, the opening keynote of this two-day event always brings thrilling updates about new products and services from Google.
Anticipated Announcements
this year, we expect a wealth of announcements from Google. There will likely be more details on Android 16, following last week’s reveal during the Android Show. Updates on Gemini AI are also anticipated, along with potential news about new virtual reality headsets or augmented reality glasses that will work with Google's dedicated Android XR platform.
We may also hear about improvements to Android Auto and WearOS 6. However,it seems likely that AI developments will take center stage during this event.

When does the keynote start? The Google IO 2025 keynote kicks off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on May 20, 2025. This year’s event is taking place live at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.

While there hasn’t been an official declaration regarding how long this year's keynote will last, past events give us a good idea. Last year's presentation lasted one hour and fifty-two minutes while in 2023 it was two hours and five minutes long.So make sure you have enough snacks ready for around two hours!
