Google launches new movie and TV initiative, 100 Zeroes

Google and Range Media Partners have teamed up to launch a new movie and TV initiative called ‘100 Zeroes,’ according to a report from Business Insider.
The report says one of Google’s goals is to promote its products, such as producing a movie with Android. However, product placement isn’t the only reason for this; instead, Google is said to be trying to promote a positive view of technology among young people.
Business Insider points to 100 Zeroes contributing to the horror film Cuckoo, but Google didn’t play a role in the movie’s content. However, it points to the type of projects Google wants to make: movies and TV shows from indie studios focusing on Gen Z.
Google isn’t looking to use YouTube as a sharing mechanism for these TV and movie platforms, but may work with major film studios and streamers like Netflix.
Furthermore, Google said 100 Zeroes isn’t a movie or TV studio.
This is not a new studio, it’s an initiative driven by our Platforms & Devices team which includes Android. We’re working with Range to assist the creative community in integrating cutting-edge technologies and platforms, like XR and AI, into their filmmaking.
