Galaxy S25 Ultra vs. Find X8 Ultra: Which Camera Takes the Crown?

Samsung has played a notable role in making periscope telephoto lenses popular in smartphones.Their strong marketing has set new standards for smartphone cameras.
Since the launch of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the term “Ultra” has come to signify top-tier smartphone cameras. The success of Samsung's Ultra series prompted other manufacturers to create their own high-end models.
Recently,Oppo introduced the Find X8 Ultra, which is among the best smartphone cameras available today. It boasts five cameras—one more than Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra—and is designed to take stunning photos at eight different focal lengths.
How do these two flagship devices stack up against each other? I had the chance to test both during my visit to China for Oppo’s launch event. Here’s what I discovered.
Camera Specifications: Oppo Find X8 Ultra vs Galaxy S25 Ultra
Let’s break down how these two smartphones compare based on their camera specs.
Oppo Find X8 Ultra
- Main Camera: 50MP, 1-inch sensor, f/1.6 aperture, OIS
- Ultrawide Camera: 50MP wiht a 120° field of view
- Telephoto Cameras: Two 50MP lenses (3x and 6x optical zoom)
- Selfie Camera: 32MP
Galaxy S25 Ultra
- Main Camera: 200MP, larger sensor size (1/1.3-inch), f/1.7 aperture
- Ultrawide Camera: 50MP with a similar field of view as Oppo's
- Telephoto Cameras: One at 10MP (3x zoom) and another at 50MP (5x zoom)
- Selfie camera: 12MP
samsung chose a large primary camera with high megapixels but lower resolution on its telephoto lenses compared to Oppo's balanced approach across all its sensors. The Find X8 features four equally powerful cameras and includes a unique true chroma sensor that captures various color temperatures accurately within one shot.
On paper, it seems that the find X8 might have an edge over Samsung due to its consistent performance across all lenses and better color accuracy from its true chroma sensor.
Photo Quality in Different Lighting Conditions
To evaluate photo quality under various lighting conditions, I took around 200 pictures using both phones concurrently or one after another.
In one example featuring an entryway scene, the Find X8 produced vibrant colors but lost some detail in the blue sky; conversely, while darker images from the Galaxy S25 showed better sky color reproduction. Preferences may vary here; some may prefer vibrancy while others favor accuracy.
In another test focusing on details when zoomed in closely on objects like signs or food items—both phones performed similarly well overall—but when it came to food photography specifically—the Find X8 consistently outperformed due to faster autofocus capabilities.
Winner: Find X8 Ultra, taking two out of three tests convincingly though personal taste could sway opinions either way.
Portraits and Selfies
Oppo markets its device as superior for portrait photography; however, Samsung also offers impressive portrait modes like Color Point alongside standard blur options found on most smartphones.
When comparing portraits taken at varying zoom levels (1x through 3x), it became clear that hair strands were captured more effectively by Oppo’s device at higher magnifications despite both performing admirably overall.
Both devices allow front-facing selfies with portrait mode enabled too—the wider angle offered by FindingX makes it easier for group shots compared with samsung’s narrower lens which struggles recognizing multiple subjects effectively.
Winner: Slightly Favoring Find X8, mainly due to better hair detail capture without being overly aggressive about blurring backgrounds.
Zoom Performance During Daylight
Zoom capabilities are crucial when considering either phone since they’re marketed heavily around this feature set—so how do they perform?
During initial tests involving distant signage where finer details matter—the find x struggled slightly until reaching longer focal lengths where it excelled beyond expectations compared against galaxy s25 ultra whose performance faltered under similar conditions despite still producing decent results alone.
At maximum distances such as those seen during our testing sessions—it was evident again that oppo managed brighter images filled with more vivid colors while samsung lagged behind lacking sharpness especially noticeable once we reached above ten times magnification levels leading us back into familiar territory regarding AI reliance versus pure optics used by each brand respectively throughout this comparison process.
Low-Light Zoom Testing
While finding x proved itself capable during daylight scenarios—we needed clarity regarding low-light situations too! Would oppo maintain superiority here?
The answer appears affirmative! In several instances capturing scenes featuring contrasting elements between shining lights & dark skies—it became apparent how much better oppo handled balancing hues resulting ultimately clearer shots than those produced via galaxy s25 ultra which ofen resulted washed-out appearances instead!
Overall findings suggest although both devices offer excellent photographic experiences—they differ considerably particularly concerning long-range detail retention & low-light handling abilities where find x shines brightest amongst competitors present today!
Conclusion: Which phone reigns Supreme?
After thorough testing between these two flagship models—it becomes clear they each possess remarkable photographic capabilities across various settings yet upon closer inspection reveals notable differences favoring oppo over samsung particularly concerning longer focal lengths along side low-light performance metrics observed throughout trials conducted earlier mentioned herein thus concluding:
The winner is undoubtedly FindX offering greater consistency coupled alongside superior image quality making it stand out amongst peers currently available within market space today!
