Understanding How to Play Strands
Your main objective in each Strands puzzle is to discover the “theme words” hidden within a grid of letters. You can manipulate letters by dragging or tapping them; double-tap on the last letter to confirm your selection. When you identify a correct word, it will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.
If you come across a word that isn’t part of the theme but has four or more letters, it still counts! For every three non-theme words found this way, you’ll receive a hint—one letter from one of the theme words will be revealed for you to unscramble.
Every letter in the grid contributes directly to forming theme words without any overlaps. each letter is used only once throughout each puzzle.
A unique feature of every puzzle is its “spangram,” which consists of special theme words that connect two opposite sides of the board. When identified correctly, this spangram will be highlighted in yellow.
The aim should always be completing your puzzle quickly while minimizing hints used along the way.
