Unlock Today’s NYT Strands: Hints, Spangram & Answers for April 9!

Strands is a new daily puzzle from the New York Times that offers a fresh twist on the traditional word search. To solve this puzzle, you’ll need to pay close attention and think critically.
Similar to popular games like Wordle, connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be challenging at times. If you find yourself stuck, it’s perfectly fine to seek assistance. For those needing help with today’s Strands puzzle, we’ve provided the answers below.
Understanding How to play Strands
Your main objective in each Strands puzzle is to uncover the “theme words” hidden within a grid of letters. You can manipulate these letters by dragging or tapping them to form words; double-tap on the last letter when you're done. Correctly identified words will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.
If you discover a word that isn’t part of the theme but has four or more letters, it still counts! For every three non-theme words found, you'll receive a hint revealing some letters from one of the theme words for you to unscramble.
Every letter in the grid contributes directly to spelling out theme words without any overlaps. Each letter is used only once throughout each puzzle.
A unique feature of every puzzle is its “spangram,” which consists of special theme word(s) that connect two opposite sides of the board. When you identify this spangram, it will be marked in yellow.
The aim should always be completing your puzzles quickly while minimizing hints used along the way.
