Public Mobile pulls bonus data deals days before scheduled end

Telus-owned Public Mobile has prematurely ended some deals it had on wireless plans.
The 5G plans listed on Public’s website had bonus data offers that were set to end on April 6, but as of today (April 2), those bonuses are no longer listed. The plans in question are laid out below:
- $35/30GB 5G Canada-wide (previously $35/40GB)
- $40/60GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (previously $40/100GB)
- $50/100GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (previously $50/150GB)
Along with removing the April 6 end date from the above plans, Public also added the date to several of its other plans, including:
- $20/500MB 4G Canada-wide
- $23/2GB 4G Canada-wide
- $26/5GB 4G Canada-wide
- $30/15GB 4G Canada-wide
It’s not clear why Public took down the deals early, but my guess is the company wants to keep its pricing in line with other Canadian providers. Yesterday, I wrote about all the plan changes following a month of deal madness. We saw plans and prices shift at Freedom, Koodo, Fido, Virgin, and more.
Public stood out from the crowd with its bonus data offers that, while not quite as good as earlier deals, were still better than those of other providers. Now that’s changed, with Public’s new pricing closely matching Freedom.
